The broken squall line associated with the frontal boundary pushed through in the pre dawn hours… but due to the dry air punching into the upper level low pressure system, the Hudson Valley missed out on the widespread soaking rain that was needed.
Instead now, we’re watching the upper level low pressure spin over central NY State, as it will continue to rotate to the ENE during the day. This is likely to pull some scattered showers and T-Storms through the Hudson Valley and Catskills during the afternoon hours. There continues to be a good deal of atmospheric lift over our region, so expect scattered showers and possibly even a T-Storm to pop up on the radar over the next several hours. These scattered showers could contain heavy downpours and strong wind gusts.
The chance of scattered showers and downpours will be with us through the afternoon hours, before things dry out tonight. Temperatures will likely hold steady in the upper 50s to low 60s around the region. Winds will be strong out of the west today, 10 to 20mph, with gusts up to 35mph. So hold onto your hats this afternoon!
