Hudson Valley Weather

At Hudson Valley Weather we strive for excellence, delivering precise, reliable forecasts tailored to the unique climate of our region. With a team of seasoned forecasters, we empower you with the knowledge to navigate changing weather without the hype

7:30pm Radar Update

Clouds and scattered showers continue to impact the Hudson Valley, so be sure to plan for potential rain delays this evening. A few rumbles of thunder and a flash or two of lightning are possible. But as we discussed in our posts last night and this afternoon, the severe weather threat for our area remains minimal. For those who may be interested, our first image demonstrates the situation very well. The arrows pointing to multiple severe Thunderstorm Warnings in Pennsylvania for potentially damaging wind gusts are a product of where the atmosphere was able to destabilize due to sunshine and warm temperatures. However the Hudson Valley (circled) remained mostly cloudy and unsettled with scattered showers and a few rumbles of thunder. This stabilized the atmosphere, and while it may have translated into dodging showers all day… the trade off was the severe T-storms remained off to our west.

Stay dry this evening, as the scattered showers will continue for the next several hours around the region.

Enjoying the stabilization very much!

My son is in a van coming back from a track meet in PA. They had to drive through some of the worst of the weather. Said it was pretty bad and when they pulled over to get something to eat the Panera kept losing power

Steady rain in Ulster Heights, Ellenville.

5:30pm Radar Update - Scattered Showers & T-Showers

Our unsettled Sunday afternoon continues across the Hudson Valley. The approaching frontal boundary is now touching off a broken line of showers and thundershowers. Concern was originally for a potential severe weather threat across our area this afternoon. However, the dissipating low pressure system spread low clouds and scattered showers & T-showers into the Hudson Valley earlier today... helping to stabilize the atmosphere in our area. While areas to our west (western PA), experienced lots of sunshine and temperatures into the mid and upper 70s... destabilizing the atmosphere. So while severe T-Storm warnings are popping up in western PA (blue boxes on radar image)... the benefit of having low clouds and scattered showers much of the day in the Hudson Valley, is that we have very little severe weather concerns.

The Next Few Hours... (5:30pm - 8pm)
Expect mostly cloudy skies with scattered rain showers pushing further south, from the Upper Hudson Valley... to the I-84 corridor by 6pm... and the lower Hudson Valley by 7pm. A few rumbles of thunder and gusty winds are possible along with this band of rain showers. We can't rule out a damaging wind gust, but the severe weather threat is low. We'll have scattered showers and T-showers to contend with through about midnight. Make sure you plan accordingly if you're travelling tonight.

Thank you. I prefer some warning to be prepared

My son can’t get into your account on Facebook. He seems to be have an issue on his end on his phone on the Facebook app and on the Facebook website on his phone? I would just like to know exactly what’s going on and if there was a malfunction or something like that

Just another weekend in the Hudson Valley. April needs to get its s*it together.

We've had thunder on and off since 2:30 in Wawarsing. Now just a few grumbles, maybe that's it for the day?

So, no steak on the grill??

will we see more storms tonight, ? I'm seeing that parts of Pennsylvania and Ohio are getting them now
