No relief in sight as extremely dry weather continues to impact the region, here’s a look at rainfall totals through this week.

Rain continue to evade the region, and we are having a very very dry fall. Here’s some perspective to help drive this point.

A look at 30 and 60 day precipitation across the region is quite a story. Some locations saw zero precipitation in all of October and some areas haven’t see more than an inch of rain in two months. So how below average is this?

Our region just ran a top 5 driest and in some areas the driest October in 130 years of data! Here’s a different perspective to quantify how much of a deficit we are running in the region.

Anywhere from 8-10”+ deficit of rain in just the last two months. With no rain in the forecast these number will increase this week, along with a continued risk of wildfires.

In fact our region has been moved into an above normal risk of significant wildfire in November. Please continue to abide by all burn bans and be responsible and aware of any type of ignition source. We will revisit the rain potential again later this week as some guidance has rain early next week, but we have seen this fizzle out before.
