Friday AM Wintry Mix Likely

Another batch of precipitation will reach the Hudson Valley just in time for the morning commute on Friday. Guidance is pointing to slightly colder air at the mid levels of the atmosphere… which could result in a slightly longer period of wet snow Friday morning.

Expect light drizzle and freezing drizzle pre dawn to transition to wet snow between 7am and 9am. A period of light to moderate snow is likely during the mid morning hours, and could cause some slick spots across the region, especially areas north of I-84. Be sure to take stock of the conditions at your location, and use caution if snow and sleet begin accumulating. Most roads are likely to be just wet… but some areas could be a degree or two colder, and a few icy spots can’t be ruled out. Use caution when travelling Friday morning.

Temperatures at the mid levels and temps at the surface should climb above freezing by early afternoon, and any wintry mix should transition to plain scattered light rain showers in the valley. The Catskills could stay a bit icy through the entire afternoon, so please us caution in the higher elevations.

We’ll have updates through the event. Be safe… and TGIF!
