Friday Discussion : Blustery November Winds

TGIF Hudson Valley! A blustery and chilly end to the work week. Gusty NW winds howling through the valley at 10 to 15mph, gusting over 20mph at times. That wind is adding a chill to the air, by taking temperatures in the mid 40s for afternoon highs, and making wind chills in the 30s. Hold onto your hat, Hudson Valley!
Looking at the weekend, we’ve got a cool airmass by mid November standards. Average highs this time of year are right around 50° in the valley (Catskills mid 40s). Saturday’s highs are likely in the mid to upper 40s with partly cloudy skies, and Saturday night lows in the low to mid 30s. Sunday we’ll see more clouds ahead of our next front… which will bring our next threat of rain for late Sunday afternoon and night.

The buzz about a big storm for Thanksgiving is just that… buzz. Sunday night’s storm pushes through, and intensifies out over the ocean, well east of our area. So for now, the weather leading up to Thanksgiving looks cold but tranquil from Tuesday through Thanksgiving Day, and even Black Friday. We may have some interesting weather for the weekend after Thanksgiving, but that’s roughly 9 or 10 days away, so more on that next week.

Have a great weekend!
