We hope everyone had a happy and safe 4th of July! It sure felt like summer for the mid summer holiday, with highs pushing right around 90° and real feel temperatures in the low to mid 90s. As we head into the long weekend, expect more of the same on Friday. Sunshine filtered through fair weather clouds, will be overshadowed by the heat and humidity. Highs once again will push near 90° on Friday, and the humidity levels will be moderately high, making for real feel temperatures again in the low 90s. We can’t rule out the potential for an isolated late day T-Storm… but as of late Thursday night, it looks like the majority of the Hudson Valley will remain dry.
Saturday will be a different story however. After a warm and humid Friday night, where temps won’t get much below 70°… Saturday will see temps quickly jump back into the mid 80s under elevated humidity levels. Saturday will feel hot and sticky for most of us, with heat index values expected to climb into the 90s… before we see widespread scattered T-storms for mid to late afternoon Saturday. The timing of these storms appears to be 3pm to 8pm on average, with the majority focused closer to 5 or 6pm. We don’t think at this time… that these storms will be severe in nature, although a couple damaging wind gusts can’t be ruled out. We’ll try to have more updates Saturday morning, for people planning outdoor activities.
Conditions should improve on Sunday, with lower humidity levels, and temps again in the low 80s… under a mix of clouds and sunshine. We hope everyone has a great Friday!
