A deep upper level trough of low pressure will dive south from Canada Friday night and Saturday, and pull down crisp Canadian air into the Northeast. Saturday morning lows in northern New York State are expected in the upper 30s. Here in the Hudson Valley, the cool air will filter down gradually, so Saturday morning lows are likely to be in the mid to upper 50s. But the northwest wind will keep afternoon highs from climbing much beyond 70° on Saturday… in fact, some places may not even reach 70°. That is nearly 15 degrees below average for this time of year. The crisp air will bring Sunday morning lows in mid and upper 40s to the Hudson Valley. Then on Sunday, a persistent NW wind due to the deep upper level trough over the northeast will once again hold temperatures roughly 10 degrees below average, with highs on Sunday expected close to 70° once again.
The trough will exit the region on Monday, and more seasonal temps will return once again… in the upper 70s. Then on Tuesday we’ll monitor another wave of energy dropping south from Canada, which could bring chilly air and rain showers to the region. But we’ll have more on that as we get closer.
Have a great weekend!!
