The Canadian wildfires continue to send atmospheric smoke into the Northeast US. Raising particulate levels in the Hudson Valley, and resulting in an Air Quality Alert for the entire region. The smoke in the atmosphere could cause problems for those with respiratory issues. In addition, you may smell smoke from time to time. So please be alert if you are in an at risk group over the next couple days. We should get some relief toward the end of the week.

?Wednesday… Clouds mixing with some breaks of sunshine. Hazy due to atmospheric smoke. Highs in the low 80s, with low humidity.
?Wednesday Night… Partly to mostly cloudy skies. Low in the low 60s.
?Thursday…. Clouds mixing with increasing afternoon sunshine. Continued hazy due to smoke. Comfortable humidity. Highs in the low 80s.
The wildfire smoke should begin to subside by Friday and Saturday, as the wind direction shifts enough to give us a break in the Hudson Valley. High pressure over the eastern US will carry us into the weekend, and give us dry conditions straight through the next 5 to 7 days. In addition, the weekend will start out great… with mid summer temperatures in the mid 80s… but the heat will build as we go forward, with 90s possible by Sunday. Then the concern will be a potential heat wave from Sunday into Tuesday… before we track a cold front drifting south. That front could bring cooler air and the potential for rain showers by mid to late week next week. But several dry days are likely before we get there.
Enjoy the nice weather while you can, but take it slow in the smokey conditions.
