Monday Discussion : Tranquil Weather Ahead

Monday Highlights:

  • Seasonably cool temperatures:  Lows in the 40s, Highs in the low to mid 70s
  • Mostly sunny skies, dry weather for much of the week
  • Canadian high pressure brings extended run of dry weather to Hudson Valley

An extended period of quiet weather is heading our way, and temps will be seasonably cool to start off the work week.

Our work week will start off with lots of sunshine and blue skies, as cool Canadian high pressure continues to influence our weather across the Hudson Valley.  Afternoon high temperatures are expected to be in the 70s, and a beautiful start to the week is expected.

500mb Upper Air Pressure Pattern (Jet Stream):  Next 10 days

This upper air pattern map shows higher than normal pressures (orange) settling in over eastern Canada and the NE US.  This high pressure over the next 10 days will do a few things… it will keep us dry, warmer than normal… and likely safe from any tropical weather disturbance.

The projection for rainfall over the next 7 days tells the full story.  The best chance for any rain would be in the Catskills and closer to the capital district.  But in general, we don’t expect much… if any… rainfall over the next week.  We’ll clearly keep our eyes on the situation over the next week, but things look very quiet with this type of pattern in the northeast.

The most active topic the next few days will be the tropics.  We’ll watch the action in the Gulf of Mexico and Atlantic ocean in the coming days, and keep you posted if things become more active.  Todd will have the tropical updates posted on Facebook… and those posts will appear in the feed on our website as well.

Have a great start to your work week, Hudson Valley!
