A very unsettled start to the work week across the Hudson Valley. An upper level low pressure over the Great Lakes continues to rotate waves of showers and thunderstorms around the northeast. Some of those showers & T-storms resulted in catastrophic flooding in parts of Connecticut, so the Hudson Valley has really lucked out, so we have a lot to be grateful for…

Some absolutely horrendous images have been seen, with catastrophic flooding resulting in roads and houses being destroyed. Some areas in extreme eastern Westchester county got in on that rainfall, but most of the devasting rainfall was found in the SW corner of Connecticut. Hopefully those folks see an end to the rain and begin to dry out in the next few days.
Looking more locally, here in the Hudson Valley on Monday we’ll see mostly cloudy skies with some breaks of afternoon sunshine…

Temperatures will climb into the 80s most likely with some breaks of early afternoon sun. A cold front will approach during the afternoon on Monday, and that has the potential to kick up a few strong to severe T-storms as the front pushes through. The hopes are that the low clouds of the morning will keep the atmosphere stabilized… and prevent any squall line of showers & T-Storms from developing. The most likely timeline for T-Storms will be between 2pm and 6pm from west to east across the valley.
But once that front pushes through, we’ll see a much cooler airmass move into the Hudson Valley.

The trick will be that conditions will remain a bit unsettled with the lingering upper level low over New England. Tuesday will likely see lots of clouds, and even some spotty rain showers rotating around the upper low. This will keep high temperatures pinned down in the upper 60s in the Catskills, and low to mid 70s in the Hudson Valley.
We’ll keep our eyes on things over the next few days… but an unsettled start to the work week.
