Some big changes in our air mass are coming for the second half of the week! We’re watching a break from the heat and humidity… with cooler, Canadian air moving in Thursday and Friday… which could mean highs in the 70s, and overnight lows in the 50s! But before we can get that relief… a potential heat wave (3 or more days of temperatures 90° or higher), is in store for the Hudson Valley for the next 3 days.
??Heat Advisory in Effect for Portions of the Hudson Valley
?Monday… Sunshine and blue skies, mixing with fair weather clouds. A bit of haze is likely, due to the smoke in the atmosphere from the Canadian wildfires. The heat will be in full effect, with afternoon highs in the upper 80s to low 90s expected. Heat index values should be fairly close to the air temperatures on Monday.
?Monday Night… Partly to mostly clear skies… warm and rather humid. Low around 70°

?Tuesday… Very Hot! Sunshine mixed with fair weather clouds… Hazy, Hot and humid! High in the mid to upper 90s. Heat Advisory likely. Heat index values in the upper 90s to low 100s possible! Use extra caution.
?Wednesday… Hazy, hot and humid… sunshine mixing with increasing afternoon clouds. Slight chance of late day showers and T-Storms. Highs in the low to mid 90s. Heat index values in the mid to upper 90s.
A HOT and humid… mid summer start to the week. Make sure you plan for intense summer heat and humidity. Take frequent breaks from strenuous activity in the heat… avoid extended exposure to direct sunshine… and stay hydrated, drink plenty of fluids. We’ll share any additional alerts to the heat… for now, the Heat Advisories are limited to Orange, Rockland Putnam and Westchester counties… but we expect similar conditions through the entire Hudson Valley, so those advisories could push further north.
Stay cool everyone!
-Bill
