Monday’s Weather : The Heat Continues… Watching Chantal

Tropical Storm Chantal is a weak system, but it does have a good deal of moisture associated with it. That moisture will slowly drift NE over the next 48 hours, and could impact our weather Tuesday afternoon and night, with a chance for some localized substantial rainfall… depending on where the precipitation tracks. Our eyes will be on it, and we’ll share additional info as we get closer.
For our Monday however, the heat continues. Sunshine will mix with clouds, as the afternoon highs climb into the mid and upper 80s. Heat index values near 90° are expected in the valley areas. There could be enough instability in the atmosphere to touch off an isolated shower or T-Storm in the region. A localized downpour or two can’t be ruled out, but based on the precipitation map shown, if you happen to be under that isolated shower or storm… a quick inch of rain can’t be ruled out. But for the majority of us, we’ll likely remain dry on Monday.
Check back late Monday or Tuesday morning for an update on the details regarding Tuesday evening. But early guidance suggests some areas of heavier rain are possible with the remnants of Chantal… the question is “where exactly will that be?”… over portions of the Hudson Valley, or just to our southeast? Check back for more details…
