Some areas of light snow showers are developing around the region at this hour. These snow showers will be hit or miss… and generally very light. Accumulations of a dusting to a half inch can’t be ruled out with the scattered snow showers through midnight. A dusting of snow can create some very slick spots… so please use caution.
But the most significant weather tonight may be due to a squall line of snow associated with the approaching cold front. We modified the 4am Futurecast radar to give you a rough guide of where the squall line will be at various points overnight. The Hudson Valley will be impacted primarily between 3am and 5am from west to east. So if you’re travelling home during this time, please use extra caution. These snow squalls can drop visibility to near zero in less than a minute, so please be alert to the potential.
– Strong wind gusts over 30mph possible
– Near white out conditions briefly possible
– A dusting to an inch of snow possible
We’ll try to share updates overnight, but please use this guide to plan your evening. Have a Happy and Safe New Year!!
