Bands of light to moderate snow continue to move through the Hudson Valley as of 1am. The vertical motion in the atmosphere caused snow to redevelop in areas that had tapered off. As the low pressure pulls offshore, the bands of snow will gradually weaken and taper off over the next few hours. By sunrise, we expect the snow to have ended across the entire viewing area.
Radar Loop : 11:30 to 1am

Roads remain snow covered and treacherous, with temperatures in the mid teens. Be sure to allow extra time if you must travel overnight, but with the State of Emergency declared by the Governor… we strongly recommend staying at home until Saturday morning.
Final Accumulations will vary depending on your location. In general, 6 to 10 inches of snow are likely across the lower half of the viewing area (Orange, Rockland, Westchester, Putnam counties). But the areas north of there never truly taper off… resulting in more precipitation falling in those areas. Also heavier banding of snow occurred in parts of Ulster, Greene, Columbia and Dutchess counties… so final totals of 8 to 14 inches can’t be ruled out there.
We’ll fill in the missing pieces on Saturday. Have a great night, Hudson Valley!
