– Rain develops 10pm to 1am… tapers before sunrise
– South of I-84 : less than a half inch of rain likely
– I-84 and points north: half inch to 1 inch of rain possible
– Unsettled pattern through mid week, 2″ to 3″ of rain possible

After a round of Saturday afternoon Thunderstorms rolled through the Hudson Valley, we’ll likely see another round of rain and thunder tonight. The first image (above) is the futurecast radar for 1am tonight. You can see the Hudson Valley engulfed in an area of rain and thunderstorms. Guidance suggests that rain could fall locally heavy at times, especially around midnight. The area of rain will slowly push northward overnight, exiting the region by sunrise.

Sunday morning looks cloudy, cool and mainly dry. But that is not likely to last… as another area of rain is poised to push into the Hudson Valley around noon on Sunday. Periods of light to moderate rain are expected Sunday afternoon, into Sunday night. Once again, the heaviest rainfall totals are expected as you go further north, as a frontal boundary north of Albany will provide some enhancement to the rainfall Sunday evening. The rain likely tapers off before sunrise on Monday.
Looking ahead to Monday, another unsettled day, with low clouds and a SE wind ushering in more scattered showers and localized downpours. With a persistent cutoff upper-level low pressure over our area, afternoon highs each day are expected in the low to mid 60s, and the rain threat will continue through Monday and Tuesday… before conditions begin to dry out near mid-week. With several days of on and off periods of rain.

Image 3 shows the rainfall potential between now and Wednesday afternoon. With a widespread 2 to 3 inches of rain being possible. So make sure to keep the rain gear handy, you’re gonna need it this week!!
