…… Saturday & Sunday: 0° to -20°
…… Saturday Night: -10° to -30°
An arctic front dives south from Canada early Saturday morning, and air temperatures will plummet from the upper teens and low 20s at sunrise on Saturday… into the single digits by noon. Temperatures will hold in the single digits into Saturday night, possibly falling below zero by Sunday morning. Calm winds at sunrise Saturday… will translate into howling NW winds by mid day Saturday. NW winds 15 to 25mph, will gust 20mph to 45mph Saturday afternoon and into Saturday night. When we combine air temperatures in the single digits above or below zero… with these wind gusts… the resulting wind chills will be not just uncomfortable, but dangerous.

Wind chills on Saturday during the daytime hours will range between -5° and -20° for the Hudson Valley and Catskills. After dark… when temps begin to fall near or below zero… wind chills between -10° and -30° are possible!!
These are the kind of conditions that can turn dangerous if caught off guard. Prolonged exposure of bare skin to wind chills of this magnitude can result in frostbite in a short period of time. Be sure to wear many layers, including gloves and hats to protect yourself properly. Also please check on those who may be at greater risk of exposure to these conditions. We’ll have updates through the weekend.
