A very dynamic weather pattern will be entering the US beginning this weekend, and lasting through much of next week. This will result in some very complicated and changable forecasts over that period. That begins with a potential storm system for Sunday.
Computer guidance is finally beginning to settle on the idea of a potential winter storm Sunday afternoon into Monday morning. The details will begin to come into better focus over the next 48 hours, but the arctic cold front will push through the Hudson Valley Saturday evening, ushering in the coldest airmass we’ve seen in quite some time. A second piece of energy is expected to develop along that boundary, and create a fast moving coastal low pressure, that should ride NE along that boundary. That low pressure could generate an area of moderate to heavy snow across the Hudson Valley and parts of the Northeast Sunday night… and snowfall amounts over 4″ are possible.
Because of the complex setup, the timing and strength of the low pressure, as well as the position of the arctic boundary are all key to determining if we see snow, how much… or if the storm passes by to our south.
