A very hot and humid day is expected on Sunday across the Hudson Valley. The morning forecast is a bit uncertain, as a squall line of showers & T-Storms pushes south from Canada Saturday night. The line should weaken as it reaches central NY by morning on Sunday… but still, scattered showers and T-Storms are possible Sunday morning, so be alert to the possibility of morning rain showers.

But that band of rain should dissipate by mid-day, and the clouds will begin to mix with sunshine during the afternoon, and that’s when things get very uncomfortable. Temperatures in the 70s and low 80s Sunday morning will be accompanied by high levels of humidity with the AM scattered rain. Once the sun breaks through, temperatures will climb into the mid and upper 80s… possibly even the low 90s. With all that moisture remaining in the air from the scattered AM showers, dew points will be in the low 70s. That will make temperatures in the upper 80s feel like upper 90s around the Hudson Valley. This is the cause for the Heat Advisory & the Extreme Heat Warnings on Sunday.

So make sure you take it slow on Sunday… take frequent breaks from strenuous activity, and stay hydrated. Conditions will be favorable for heat exhaustion with all the humidity in the air… so please be extra cautious!
We’ll have additional discussions on Sunday about the Extreme heat coming on Monday. If you think Sunday’s temperatures are oppressive, just wait until Monday. Monday afternoon, some parts of the valley could see ‘real feel’ Heat Index values between 105° and 109°!!! Make sure you prepare accordingly. More updates soon…
