Sunday Weather Discussion : Sunshine Fades Late in the Day

A hot summer day lined up for the Hudson Valley… on this final Sunday of July.

Anyone with outdoor plans on Sunday should be pleased with this weather for late July.  Sunshine mixing with afternoon clouds, and highs in the mid to upper 80s.  Humidity levels shouldn’t be too terrible… keeping real feel temperatures near the actual air temperature.  Hopefully everyone will be able to enjoy the rest of their weekend… because conditions will be changing as we head into the work week.

Futurecast Satellite & Radar : Sunday 8am – Monday 8pm

A low pressure system over the Atlantic Ocean will push northwest on Sunday and push onshore into New England Sunday night.  The system is not very strong, but it will bring clouds and scattered showers onshore Sunday night and Monday.  This will keep us unsettled on Monday, with mostly cloudy skies and scattered showers throughout much of the day.

We do not anticipate a lot of precipitation with this system… generally between a tenth and a quarter inch of rainfall.

Projected Rainfall between Sunday Night and Tuesday

Once the system comes onshore Monday, it will dissipate and drift northward.  Eventually, an approaching cold front on Tuesday will push the system east, and away from our area.  However that could also mean some clouds and scattered showers across the Hudson Valley on Tuesday as well.

So after a beautiful weekend across the Hudson Valley, we will have to contend with some instability Sunday night into Monday… possibly into Tuesday.  We’ll share details as things develop Sunday night and on into Monday.  Have a great day!
