Super Bowl Weekend Looks Super Cold

We’ve had a few spots break over 32° this week, and even spots that hit the upper 20’s it felt like a heat wave, as we have now become hardy and adjusted for a one of our colder winters of the last decade.
Break time is over! We make one more run towards the upper 20’s and low 30’s today, and then the bottom starts to drop out! With temps gradually sliding on Thursday and Friday with mid to low twenties being the average highs the end the work week. But wait, we’re not done yet! Temps will drop even lower by the weekend with highs in the teens and single digits being likely.
Saturday AM weather Map
Add into the frozen tundra vibes, a clipper will dive into the region Friday night into Saturday morning spread light snow across the entire region. A general 1-3” is possible between 1AM and 3PM Saturday (we will refine this down as we get closer).
As this system slides off shore it will rapidly deepen in a much larger ocean storm. The combination of this deepening low pressure offshore and a stony high pressure to our west will help create a strong pressure gradient Sat PM into Sunday.
Sunday Afternoon Air Temperatures
Winds gusting 20-40 MPH, combined with air temps in the single digits and teens will create dangerously low wind-chills on Sunday. We may see wind chills between -20 and -40+ degrees on Sunday morning. This would represent some of the lowest wind chills we have seen this entire winter season. Please take these temps seriously as any extended amount of time outdoors without proper protection could be extremely dangerous.
Sunday Morning Wind Chills
Beyond this period we are targeting additional chances for wintry weather into next week as well. So while we may see some relaxing in temps beyond this weekend, by no means does this mean the chances for winter storms will end. Stay tuned and soak up those upper 20’s and low 30’s today!
