Thursday Discussion : The Heat is Here!

WHERE: Entire Hudson Valley
WHEN: Now through Friday 8pm
WHAT: Heat Index Values upper 90s to low 100s
The entire Hudson Valley is under a heat advisory until Friday evening. The massive eastern ridge of high pressure is sending the heat straight up the east coast. Highs on Thursday in the mid to upper 90s and low to mid 90s on Friday will combine with increasing humidity levels to make for a very uncomfortable feel to the air. ‘Real Feel’ Heat index values between 95° and 104° are possible around the region. Make sure you use proper caution, taking frequent breaks from the heat.
Along with the heat, a line of scattered showers and T-Storms is likely to develop across central NY late today, and push toward the Catskills and Hudson Valley near sunset. The timing would be 6pm to 10pm, and the best chance is in the Catskills and upper HV, but just be alert to the potential this evening. The severe potential is marginal… meaning a low threat, but we cannot rule out some strong and potentially damaging wind gusts.
Stay cool everyone!!

  1. See that at 7PM a fairly robust & solid line of weather will be just to our West, do you think they will hold together and give Ulster County, top to bottom a chance for a downpour? Certainly hope so. Anything will do at this point.
