Tuesday Discussion : More Sunshine & Blue Skies

After a picture perfect Memorial Day Weekend across the Hudson Valley, we’ll see that beautiful weather continue through the work week… right into the first days of June. A large upper level high pressure focused over eastern Canada is extending into our area, and giving us sunshine and warmth. That means sunshine and blue skies with highs in the 70s on Tuesday… with warming temps each day, so that Friday we are likely in the low 90s. So plenty of beautiful weather on the way…

Looking for Rain… Looking for Changes…
Things have dried out quite a bit, and we won’t see another drop of rain until we turn the calendar to June. So it wouldn’t surprise us if some folks start having thoughts of drought as we come to the end of May. However… looking at the long range jet stream, both the GFS & European models agree that the big ridge in eastern North America will break down in about 7 to 10 days. From there, it looks like a multi-day stretch of a deepening trough over the eastern US. A deepening upper trough usually indicates unsettled weather and cooler weather. We could see our first shot at rain next weekend (maybe late Saturday into Sunday) with an upper level low in New England. Something we’ll be watching closely over the next several days, and update you on as we move through the week.

Have a great Tuesday!
-Bill
