The front has pushed through, and the winds will gradually increase overnight Monday into Tuesday.

NW winds will gust 20 to 30mph on Tuesday, making those overnight and early morning temperatures in the teens feel more like the single digits… and the afternoon temperatures in the mid 20s feel more like the mid teens. So make sure you bundle up and layer up, as the bone chilling cold settles in for the next 3 days.

We’ll see things bounce back at the end of the week, into the mid and upper 30s for highs by Friday and possibly Saturday, but that’s when things get very complicated. A polar trough will be plunging into the upper Midwest, sending the coldest air of the season into the US. The question is, what happens on the front side of that arctic air? A low pressure will try to develop as the cold air surges into the eastern US, and we’ll have to closely monitor things as they unfold. The time frame for a potential storm system would be on Saturday afternoon into Monday… and there are major questions about whether it’s a weak disturbance, or a signifcant low pressure system. Something to track along with us through the week.
Either way, behind that threat will be brutally cold air. Highs in the teens, overnight lows near zero… for much of the work week next week (1/20 – 1/25). Things will be busy for the next few weeks, be sure to follow along with us. Stay warm friends!
