Tuesday Weather: Weather Rollercoaster Next 72 Hours

After 2 days of tranquil weather across the Hudson Valley… things change dramatically beginning on Tuesday. A lot of ups and downs over the next 48 hours, so buckle up!

Tuesday Morning (5am to 10am)
An arctic cold front will dive south through NY state early Tuesday morning, and bring gusty NW winds and a chance of a brief snow squall along with it. The best chance for a burst of snow is north of the I-84 corridor, because the squall line appears likely to weaken as it moves south. A quick dusting to a half inch is possible in some spots
Tuesday Night (8pm to 2am)
An approaching clipper system in the Great Lakes will spread an area of light snow into NY state. It seems likely to be focused to our north, but as shown in the graphic a period of light snow is possible across the entire Hudson Valley. A dusting to an inch possible… with the dusting more common along and south of the I-84 corridor, and possibly a couple inches in the Catskills… and even up to 6″ in the higher peaks.
Wednesday Late AM & PM
Another arctic front slides through behind the clipper system, and more gusty winds will send temps tumbling into the 20s, and wind chills in the teens. Scattered snow squalls and snow showers are possible around the entire region, with another dusting to a half inch possible.
A lot of changeable conditions over the next 72 hours, make sure you’re ready for the ride.
