A large upper level high pressure over the eastern US is protecting the east coast from our two tropical systems Hurricane Humberto and Tropical Storm Imelda. The other side effect has been the summer like warmth in the region. That warmth will last for another day, before a cold front drops south Tuesday night into Wednesday… bringing us a taste of fall.
?Tuesday : Sunshine filtered through high clouds. Very warm. High in the upper 70s to near 80°.
?Tuesday Night: Partly to mostly cloudy… turning colder. Temps falling into the mid to upper 40s.
? Wednesday: Mostly sunny, breezy and chilly. High in the low to mid 60s.
? Wednesday Night: Mainly clear skies, winds diminishing overnight. Low in the upper 30s to low 40s.
? Thursday: Sunshine mixing with fair weather clouds. High in the mid 60s.
As we close out September and head into October, we’ll climb aboard the weather roller coaster. Summer like temperatures linger into Tuesday with some of us approaching 80° for a high. But a Canadian high pressure will dive into New England Tuesday night… and a NNE wind will usher in a quick burst of autumn air on Wednesday and Thursday.

Highs will struggle into the mid 60s… and we could see some places fall into the upper 30s for the first time this season.

But the Canadian air will be short lived… as the high pressure rebuilds, and winds will once again shift out of the SW by the weekend. Saturday and Sunday could see highs near 80° once again. The down side… it looks very dry for the next several days. To be honest… our next shot at rain looks to be around October 8th… with the next Canadian cold front. That’s the trade off with a large upper level high pressure… it will shield us from any approaching precipitation. So with the region now beginning to show signs of increasing drought, make sure you’re careful with your outdoor activities.
Have a great week!
