A large upper level trough over the eastern US will keep conditions rather unsettled and cool for early May. Temperatures on Friday are expected to reach near 60° for an afternoon high… which is about 5 to 10 degrees below average. Skies will be mostly cloudy, with a few scattered rain showers possible from time to time around the Hudson Valley. We don’t expect a washout… but make sure you plan for the potential of a brief rain shower or two through the day on Friday.

Saturday looks even more unsettled… with widespread area of light rain potentially moving into the Hudson Valley during the daytime hours Saturday morning. The rain does not appear overly heavy, but light rain with patchy areas of drizzle is possible. The rain likely develops by mid morning on Saturday and tapers off during the mid to late afternoon… but these details will need to be updated as we get closer. Temps are expected to start out in the upper 40s and climb into the low and mid 50s while the rain showers are falling… climbing near 60° once the showers taper off.
As of now… Mother’s Day looks like a much nicer day across the region. Conditions are expected to dry out, and we should see afternoon highs around 70°. So for the moment, our Mother’s Day plans should be unimpacted by the weather.
We’ll share more updates about this weekend’s weather as we get closer. Until then… TGIF!
