This Week's Featured Hiking Trail-

The Devils Path

  • Location: Catskill Mountains
  • Length of hike: Up to 25 miles
  • Difficulty: Hard

Now let me warn you: The Devils Path hike can be very difficult and is not recommended for beginners. It is a hike through 6 major Catskill Mountains and it is a point A to B trail. There are shorter options to this trail which will take you through sections of it where you can actually do individual loops through each of the 6 mountains instead of all of them. If this sounds more interesting, then my recommendation would be to do the Indian Head loop trail which is 7 miles long. It begins at Prediger Road which is one of the starting points to the Devils Path trail but cuts away from it 4 miles in and loops back to the same starting point.

This Week's Featured Fishing Spot

Neversink River Unique Area
Towns of Forestburgh and Thompson

The Neversink River Unique Area offers world class trout fishing opportunities. Trout fishing is catch and release only, and may be done April 1 through October 15.  Only artificial lures may be used for trout. You will find brown trout, brook trout, and small mouth bass. This is a great place for hiking and paddling too.

This Week's Featured Restaurant

Zinnia’s Dinette

Zinnia’s Dinette is the kind of eclectic spot that invites hanging out. With its orange swivel stools at the counter, this hybrid diner and seafood shack offers fried smelts, fishcake sandwiches with beets, and pandan milkshakes, in addition to natural wine. By the checkout counter, Zinnia’s sells an impressive selection of tinned fish. Down the street is Random Harvest, a separate general store that is also worth your time for takeout sandwiches.
