After bitter cold air moves in for Monday… it will stick with us leading up to our next event on Wednesday morning. A weak low pressure will pass through the Great Lakes and into southern Canada on Wednesday. It will drag a cold front along with it, but out ahead of it, the flow will be out of the south. It is expected to bring slightly milder air into the Hudson Valley Wednesday morning… and possibly just mild enough at the mid levels of the atmosphere to cause the light snow to transition to a wintry mix in the valley. Air temperatures are projected to be in the upper 20s and low 30s at the onset of the precipitation… so some slick spots are certainly possible.
Precipitation is expected to develop between sunrise and about 10am, and likely falls in the form of wet snow… before possibly mixing with sleet and freezing rain in the valley. In total, this is a minor event… where it remains all snow, a coating to 2 inches is possible.
We’re still about 60 hours away from the event… so we’ll keep our eyes on it. But plan for the possibility for your Wednesday travel plans to potentially be impacted.
