The heat and humidity surge once again on Wednesday, as the skies will be partly to mostly sunny and the dew points climb into the low 70s. Afternoon highs should climb near 90°… and the ‘real feel’ heat index should surge into the mid and upper 90s across the Hudson Valley… possibly reaching 100° in some places. For that reason, the National Weather Service has issued a Heat Advisory for most of the valley. Make sure you take it slow on Wednesday if you’re outside for an extended period of time.
Scattered showers and T-Storms could push in again Wednesday evening and into the overnight. With so much atmospheric moisture available, any slow moving thunderstorm could produce well over 1 inch of rainfall per hour. These potential events should be isolated, but could result in some flash flooding concerns for areas caught in a prolonged downpour. So please be alert to the potential for T-Storms Wednesday night into Thursday.
Then on Thursday the skies should partially clear once again in the afternoon. With all the humidity remaining in the atmosphere, we’ll once again expect to see afternoon highs in the low 90s… and heat index values between 95° and 100°.
So we have a couple days of heat and humidity to contend with… along with the potential for scattered showers & T-Storms overnight in between. Be sure to plan accordingly for the heat… as well as the T-Storm threat.
