Wild Day of Weather on Wednesday

Get ready for an absolutely wild day of weather across the Hudson Valley on Wednesday, as we transition from overnight light snow… to SW winds Wednesday morning.  Those SW winds will raise temperatures from the mid 20s… to near freezing by sunrise.  The temps will continue to climb through the morning hours on Wednesday, into the low and possibly mid 40s around noon.  But then, everything begins to change…

Wednesday Temperatures:  7am through Midnight

The arctic front approaches and with it will bring a line of scattered snow showers and snow squalls between 12pm and 4pm from NW to SE…

The snow squalls could reduce visibility to under 1/4 mile with little notice, and put down a quick dusting to a half inch in a few locations.  The best chance for these snow squalls will be once again north of I-84.  The passage of the front will also be marked by strong NW winds…

The NW winds begin to howl at 20 to 30mph, with gusts over 40mph… possibly up to 50mph during the mid-afternoon hours.  Make sure you hold onto any loose objects on Wednesday afternoon.  This will cause the temperatures to drop like a rock… from the low 40s around noon, to the mid and upper 20s by 6pm.  But when you factor in the combination of the wind and the temperatures… you get wind chills that look like this…

The arctic chill remains with us through the night on Wednesday night into Thursday.  But this very transient weather pattern will continue on Thursday, and the winds shift out of the SW, and temps will climb once again Thursday afternoon.  A wild ride over the next 24 to 36 hours.  Make sure you buckle up and hold on tight…
