Winter Storm Recap : Tuesday 12/2/25

Our first winter storm of the 25-26 season is in the books. It was a low to moderate impact event around the region, with most of the valley seeing between 2 and 6 inches of snow… while the Catskills saw an average of 6 to 8 inches, and even a few locations seeing as much as 10″ (Liberty).

The storm behaved rather well, without too many surprises. The expected rain/snow line ‘battleground’ set up in the expected position, with areas from Poughkeepsie, down to Newburgh and Monroe seeing between 2 and 4 inches in most cases… with several hours of snow followed by a mix of sleet & freezing rain. Further south, in Rockland and Westchester counties… it was mostly a cold rain.
When stacked up against our Final Snowfall forecast… the results were quite close. The ranges of our 1 to 3 and 3 to 6 inch forecast were pretty close, and the 4 to 8 inch bullseye in the Catskills was well placed. All in all, there’s not a lot that we would have changed with our forecast. But in the end we’ll let you be the final judge.
